Strategy 4 — Workplace Giving
The Sleeping Giant in Every Member's HR Portal
Most of our employed members work for U.S. corporations that operate workplace giving programs — Benevity, YourCause, United Way, Frontstream, and others. Many of these employers match employee donations dollar-for-dollar, some up to $15,000 per employee per year. Many also convert volunteer hours into corporate donations at rates of $10 to $25 per hour.
We have ignored this for 25 years. We are leaving hundreds of thousands of dollars on the table every single year. This is the easiest, lowest-friction revenue stream we have available — and the one with the highest leverage.
How We Execute
- Within 90 days of taking office, register Gotabgaa International in the three largest workplace-giving platforms: Benevity, YourCause, and United Way. Most platforms require only basic 501(c)(3) verification and a brief profile setup.
- Build a Member Activation Campaign — a simple one-page guide showing members exactly how to: (a) find their company's giving portal, (b) search for Gotabgaa International, (c) set up a recurring monthly donation, (d) request matching, (e) log volunteer hours. Distribute via WhatsApp, email, and at every chapter meeting.
- Identify Member Champions inside key employers — Microsoft, Google, Bank of America, Verizon, Home Depot, Walmart, Amazon, Apple. These champions personally walk colleagues through enrollment. Two champions in each large employer is enough.
- Track monthly. The Treasurer reports workplace-giving inflows to the Board every month — visibility creates accountability and momentum.
The Math
Conservative Projection
200 GI members × $500/year in workplace giving + employer matching = $200,000+ annually. Without anyone reaching into their own pocket twice.
Year 1 Target
$80,000 in workplace giving and matching gifts. Growing to $300,000 by Year 5 as more members are activated and champions are seeded across additional employers.
